ABOUT
DAWN

Dawn T. Mangham started her journey in Coconut Grove, Florida. Dawn soon discovered a love for music and her vocal gift. She began singing at around the age of six. That was when she decided that singing was what she wanted to pursue. After graduating Coral Gables Senior High, Dawn embarked upon the college experience by attending Tuskegee University in Alabama. She was a declared Political Science major, having always had a passion for political involvement and activism. However, losing  her mother at the end of her sophomore year, she found herself faced with questions that she had never contemplated. The time led her to have a deeper reflection and appreciation of those things that are important. She left Tuskegee University without her degree to pursue her musical passion.

In the years following her experience at Tuskegee University, she was fortunate enough to work with several bands in South Florida which specialized in Funk, R&B, Light Rock and Jazz. She has also recorded original material in the studio with legendary musicians and producers, like bassist Victor Bailey. She also found a love for broadcasting through the medium of Internet radio. She has previously used her voice as a co-host for several Internet radio shows. She also returned to the classroom in 2012 to complete her education. She currently holds a Bachelors in Marketing from University of Phoenix, a Masters of Science in Entertainment Business and Masters of Arts in Public Relations from Full Sail University. Additionally, she is a freelance writer/editor, emcee and public speaker, creativity broker, and Public Relations consultant.

Dawn is the visionary behind The Dreaded Indie. Through her company she consults independent artists and fledgling companies on branding and marketing.

ABOUT US

2 Thick Chicks is the dynamic duo of Khadija Williams-Frazier and Dawn T. Mangham. Born out of their realization that they have complimentary views and wonderful chemistry, the two embarked on a mission to bring issues that affect their community to the limelight. Spawned by the launch of 2017’s Sisters of Sankofa Presents: A Seat at the Table, the two soon realized they were able to bring a unique experience and perspective to the discussion. The two collaborated on a video series called Faces of Sankofa that profiled the “Woke and Working” women who comprised the movement that Sister of Sankofa sought to embody with A Seat at The Table. And with that collaboration, the seed was planted! The two soon understood that they needed to use the momentum from the event and their collective platform to bring awareness and activism to the issues that matter to the communities they treasure.
